Sallie is a traditional Navajo rug weaver – a true descendant of the Taa ‘Bahe’ clan (Edgewater people) and the Tsi’Nagine (Black Streak people). Sallie is one of only a handful of Navajo weavers remaining who received the Navajo blessing which permits Sallie to weave the Yei design of the Navajo deity, sacred to her religion. Sallie was born in the Summer of 1960 and raised in Rainbow Springs, Arizona. Her mother’s traditional Navajo techniques were passed on to Sallie and her sisters very early in life. In addition to the sacred Yei design, Sallie utilizes a variety of Navajo designs in her weavings: Two-Greyhills, Burntwater, Granado Red, Wide Ruins, Tec Nos Pos, and Thunder Storm.
